MC Tagwaye Defects to SDP from APC

Prominent entertainer, businessman, politician, and youth leader, Obinna Simon, popularly known as MC Tagwaye, has officially left the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Tagwaye made the announcement on Friday morning in Abuja, explaining that his decision came after several months of deep reflection and consultations.

Having been a member of the presidential campaign team during the last general election, Tagwaye revealed that his decision was driven by his belief that the APC had strayed from its foundational principles and no longer prioritized the welfare and progress of Nigerians.

He pointed out that the APC’s failure to reward loyal members, its aging leadership, and policies that increase hardship for low-income citizens were major factors leading to his departure.

“The party’s internal democracy has been severely undermined, with a few power brokers determining its direction while disregarding the will of the majority,” he stated.

In contrast, Tagwaye expressed his strong support for the SDP, calling it a beacon of hope due to its commitment to youth empowerment, internal democracy, transparency, and accountability. He resonated deeply with the party’s vision for a new Nigeria focused on the welfare and progress of all citizens.

“I have formally submitted my resignation to the ward chairman of the APC, ending my affiliation with the party. I am excited to join the SDP and contribute to its mission of building a better Nigeria,” he added.

Tagwaye urged Nigerians who share his vision to join him in working towards a brighter future for the country, its citizens, and future generations.
