Atalanta have raised their asking price for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from €50 million to €60 million as interest in the Super Eagles star continues to grow. Juventus, among other clubs, have taken notice of his stellar performances, especially after his standout display in Atalanta’s dominant 4-0 win over the Turin side last weekend.
Lookman, the current African Footballer of the Year, played a key role in that resounding victory, marking his 50th Serie A goal and further establishing himself as one of the league’s elite players. According to Tuttomercatoweb, despite an informal agreement to let him depart at the end of the season, Atalanta have now increased their valuation, with two years still left on his contract.
Juventus are seen as the most eager contenders for Lookman’s signature, particularly after his masterful performance against them on Sunday. That heavy defeat at the Allianz Stadium marked Juve’s worst home loss since 1967, with Lookman at the heart of Atalanta’s attacking brilliance.
The Nigerian forward posed a threat throughout the match, striking the post with a deflected shot in the first half and testing goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio shortly after. His powerful effort set up Marten de Roon’s goal early in the second half, and he later capitalized on Dusan Vlahovic’s misstep to score Atalanta’s fourth goal, sealing the emphatic win.
Since the start of the season, the former Leicester City star has been in phenomenal form, amassing 25 goals across all competitions—13 in Serie A and five in the Champions League—alongside seven assists. His goal tally of 18 already surpasses his total from last season, highlighting his continued improvement.
Lookman’s reputation has soared since joining Atalanta, with his unforgettable hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in last season’s Europa League final securing the club’s first-ever European title. That remarkable feat also earned him the prestigious CAF African Footballer of the Year award in December.
Although tensions arose between Lookman and manager Gian Piero Gasperini following a missed penalty in Atalanta’s Champions League exit last month, they have since mended their relationship. Gasperini even hinted that the forward could captain the team before the season concludes, emphasizing his growing importance to the squad.
“Lookman became an outstanding player when he fully embraced the team dynamic,” Gasperini said following the Juventus match.
“He made Atalanta great, and Atalanta made him great.”
With Atalanta still holding an outside chance of contending for the Serie A title, the club is determined to maximize their financial return should they decide to part ways with their prized asset this summer.
