Sevilla manager, García Pimienta, has stated that Nigerian striker Akor Adams must receive medical clearance from the club before he can join the Super Eagles for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Adams, who is currently recovering from an injury, was named in Eric Chelle’s preliminary 39-man squad. However, Pimienta emphasized that the player is still undergoing rehabilitation and further assessments are needed to confirm his fitness.
“He has been working with the rehabilitation team and will need tests to determine if he can return to training next week,” Pimienta explained. “Before he joins the national team, he must first be declared fit for competitive action, and that decision rests with the medical department.”
While acknowledging Nigeria’s interest in having Adams available for the qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, the Sevilla coach made it clear that the striker’s full recovery remains the top priority.
