Unoma Akpabio, the wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has filed two lawsuits against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja. The lawsuits accuse Akpoti-Uduaghan of defamation and violating Unoma’s fundamental human rights.
The legal action follows Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims that her troubles in the Senate began after she refused to have a sexual relationship with the Senate President. Unoma Akpabio denies these allegations, describing them as false and scandalous. She’s seeking β¦250 billion in compensation and a perpetual injunction to stop Akpoti-Uduaghan from making further damaging claims.
In a separate defamation suit, Unoma challenged Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims that her husband made sexual advances towards her. She’s asking the court to order Akpoti-Uduaghan to issue a public apology in two national newspapers and pay β¦1 billion in damages.
The controversy between the two lawmakers started when Akpoti-Uduaghan discovered her seating position in the Senate chamber had been changed without her knowledge. She protested, causing a brief disruption during a plenary session, and later filed a β¦100 billion lawsuit against Akpabio and his senior legislative aide for defamation.
