A member of the House of Representatives representing the Jibia/Kaita Federal Constituency, Sada Soli, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bills, claiming they were inadequately drafted.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Soli expressed concern that the President had been ill-advised regarding the reform proposals. He asserted that the bills lacked professionalism in their drafting.
“I think it’s important to give Mr. President some credit,” Soli said. “A president relies on certain advice to make decisions, and I believe he was poorly advised in this instance.
“The individuals responsible for drafting these bills made errors, such as incorrectly referring to them as Acts. I recognized that these bills were poorly crafted and did not receive the attention of professional drafters.”
Soli continued, “We must be fair to the President as a person. He relies on his advisors, and it’s evident that the bills did not undergo the standard drafting process. Bola Tinubu’s political acumen is well-known. He is an inclusive leader, and when he realizes that these bills could lead to issues, he subjects them to scrutiny. Governors were consulted as well.”
