Al Nasr Pursues Boniface Transfer Deal

Al Nassr, the prominent Saudi Pro League club, has reportedly initiated talks with Bayer Leverkusen and the representative of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface regarding a potential transfer.

Leverkusen is said to be willing to part with the forward for €50m, according to PUNCH Sports Extra. The Saudi club is looking to bring in a new forward either in the current January window or in the summer, with Anderson Talisca expected to join Fenerbahce.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on Monday that a delegation from Al Nassr has already arrived in Germany to begin negotiations. “Al Nassr has officially started discussions for Victor Boniface as a potential new striker. Negotiations are ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen for the Nigerian forward to replace Talisca. Another option is Jhon Durán, but Aston Villa is firm on retaining him,” Romano shared.

In a follow-up update, Romano provided further insight into the negotiation process: “The Al Nassr delegation is currently in Germany negotiating with both the player and Bayer Leverkusen. Talks are progressing as mentioned earlier. Boniface and Jhon Durán are the primary candidates on Al Nassr’s radar.”

With Aston Villa unwilling to release Durán, who is also being courted by Real Madrid, Al Nassr is expected to focus on securing Boniface’s signature. However, it remains to be seen whether Bayer Leverkusen will entertain a sale.

As reported by Get German Football News, Leverkusen is open to selling Boniface for approximately €50m in the current transfer window. The German club acquired the striker from Union Saint-Gilloise for a fee of about €20m, with additional performance-related bonuses, in the summer of 2023. He signed a contract lasting until 2028 with the club.

Sky Germany further reported that Boniface recently agreed to extend his contract by an additional year, taking him through to 2029. This extension also secures him a spot among the club’s highest earners.

The Nigerian forward played a key role in Leverkusen’s successful double title campaign last season, netting 21 goals and providing 10 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. This season, he has scored 8 goals and provided 1 assist in 15 matches. After recovering from a thigh injury that sidelined him since November 2024, he is now back in action.
