The Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA) has withdrawn 568 land allocations in Abuja’s Maitama II district due to unpaid Certificates of Occupancy fees, affecting individuals, companies, and officials who missed the January 15 deadline, as reported by Premium Times.
Notable individuals affected by the land revocation include Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri.
Some others equally affected are House of Representatives Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, former Cross River Governor Ben Ayade, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, and NIDCOM Chairperson Abike Dabiri-Erewa. Several current and former lawmakers, as well as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Vice President Ibrahim Hadejia, are also on the list.
The Abuja Enterprise Agency and Silver Proof Nigeria Limited are among the companies and agencies that lost their land rights.
According to the FCTA, the revocation was due to non-payment of required fees, as mandated by the Land Use Act of 1978. Those who paid on time were not affected.
