Ganduje to Kwankwaso: You Won’t Have Kano’s Support in 2027

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed surprise at former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s claims that he enjoys the unwavering support of Kano residents.

Ganduje made this statement during the 8th and 9th APC Kano State House of Assembly Forum Dinner, an event held to honor notable party members such as Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Hon. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Atta, Labaran Abdul Madari, Ayuba Labaran Durum, Babangida Alasan Yakudima, and Baffa Babba Danagundi.

He reaffirmed that the APC remains the dominant political force in Kano, predicting a clear victory over the NNPP in the 2027 elections. Ganduje confidently stated that Kwankwaso and his party would suffer a significant defeat. Represented by the Kano State APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, Ganduje remarked, “I swear to God, if not for our internal issues, Kwankwaso wouldn’t have won any election in Kano,” adding that Kwankwaso’s political influence in 2023 was largely due to the APC’s internal challenges.

Reflecting on Kwankwaso’s role in Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s emergence, Ganduje stated, “Without our internal conflicts, Kwankwaso would have failed to win. His supporters are now seeing the truth and regretting their choices. The Kwankwasiyya movement is waning, and the governor is disconnected from the state’s affairs.”

Ganduje emphasized the need for unity within the APC, saying, “Unity is the only way forward. It is the only path to achieving victory. God has already paved the way for us.” He also criticized the current administration, accusing it of mismanaging Kano. “The government is taking Kano off course, but we will act at the right time,” he added, likening the next election to taking a hen away from its eggs.

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, also called for party unity, stressing that the current leadership’s failure was evident. Forum Chairman Abdul’azeez Garba Gafasa praised the unity efforts and encouraged continued support among party members. The event was attended by key figures, including Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I. Jibrin’s Chief of Staff, Muhammad Ibn Abdallah.
