The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has annulled the land allocations of several prominent individuals, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.
Additionally, 759 other notable figures and organizations located in Maitama II, Abuja, were also affected by this revocation, which was a result of the non-payment of the required Certificate of Occupancy fees.
This action was announced in an official statement by the FCT Administration and shared with Channels Television by the Special Adviser to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka.
In another separate release, the minister issued a warning to several other high-profile figures, including Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Kingsley Chinda, former Senate Presidents Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute, Senate Chief Whip Tahir Monguno, and 610 other individuals. These individuals face the revocation of their lands if they fail to settle the outstanding Certificate of Occupancy fees within two weeks.
This move by Wike follows months of appeals made to FCT residents, especially those living in hybrid areas of Abuja, urging them to clear their outstanding payments to the FCTA to avoid the forfeiture of their land titles.
