Fast-rising Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun has made a name for herself in NCAA Division I women’s soccer while representing the University of Pittsburgh, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The 21-year-old, now in her second year at Pitt, was named to the Second Team All-ACC this week, marking her second consecutive season of honors. She played a pivotal role in helping her team complete the regular season with a 9-6-3 overall record and a 3-5-2 record in conference play.
After recovering from an injury that sidelined her for six games, Abiodun made a strong return to ACC action. She netted her first goal of the season in a win over Clemson on October 3, 2024, and scored twice in the Panthers’ 3-0 victory over Syracuse just ten days later.
Abiodun also contributed a goal against Florida State on October 20, leading Pitt with four goals in conference play.
This year marks her second ACC honor, following her inclusion in the Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team in 2023.
The Ibadan-born midfielder was also recently highlighted in the PNC Achievers of the Week after her brace helped Pitt to a 3-0 win over Syracuse at Ambrose Urbanic Field. She opened the scoring with a header in the 76th minute and added a second goal less than six minutes later for her second career multi-goal performance.
Abiodun, who scored the winning goals in her last two matches, began her professional career with Rivers Angels in Nigeria’s Women’s Football League. Her impressive play attracted scouts, ultimately leading to a full scholarship offer from the University of Pittsburgh’s women’s soccer program in the United States.
