Deji Adeyanju, a human rights lawyer and activist, has some tough advice for Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Peter Obi: don’t bother running for president in 2027. He thinks they’d be better off spending their money on sports betting than trying to take on President Bola Tinubu.
“It is better for Atiku, Obi and Kwankwaso to use their money to play two odds on BetNaija than to contest against Tinubu and INEC,” Adeyanju said.
Adeyanju doubts the trio can defeat Tinubu, even if they join forces. He expressed his concerns about Nigeria’s electoral system, citing issues with result manipulation on IREV. “It’s a waste of time to contest elections in a nation where results are changed,” he said.
He also believes the opposition’s best chance to defeat the APC was in the last election, and now it’s too late. “Even if they all come together now, Tinubu and INEC will not lose an election Tinubu will conduct,” Adeyanju added.
Adeyanju’s statement sparked controversy, highlighting the challenges faced by opposition parties in Nigeria. His comments emphasize the need for electoral reform to ensure free and fair elections.
