The Super Eagles of Nigeria have maintained their lead in Group D of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, getting seven points from three games, despite the controversy surrounding their matchday 4 game against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights.
In a related match, Rwanda secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Benin at the Stade Amahoro on Tuesday, impacting the group standings. Rwanda dominated the game, controlling possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities.
Benin initially took the lead through Andreas Hountondji but Rwanda equalized in the 70th minute with Innocent Nshuti’s well-placed shot. Djihad Bizimana then converted a penalty, making Rwanda win the match.
