At least eight countries have secured their place in the knockout stage of the year ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

The eight countries who have qualified are Nigeria, Germany, Spain, France, Mexico and Colombia. Nigeria proceeds after the Falconets walloped Venezuela 4-0 and Germany won succumbed to South Korea 1-0.

Chris Danjuma’s side finished second in Group D behind leaders Germany, who had convincingly won their first two matches.

The two countries recorded six points from three games but the Germans had a superior goal difference, hence their leadership of the group.

In the interim, the Netherlands will lock horns with North Korea later today, while Argentina will battle Costa Rica.
