Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has hinted that the 2024/2025 season could be his final one at Anfield, revealing there have been no discussions with the club about a contract extension. Sky Sports reported that Salah made these comments following Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
“As you’re aware, this is my final year with the team. I’m focused on enjoying it without overthinking the future. I feel liberated to just play football, and we’ll see what comes next year,” Salah expressed.
However, Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher believes that Salah might still remain with Liverpool beyond this season.
“I’d be very surprised if Salah isn’t part of Liverpool’s squad next season,” Carragher remarked.
In the match, Salah provided assists for both of Luis Diaz’s goals and then added a third, silencing Old Trafford on Super Sunday. After the game, he seemingly confirmed that this could be his last season with the Reds during a post-match interview.
Reflecting on the match, Salah said, “Before the game, I thought it might be my final time playing here in a Liverpool shirt.”
“There’s been no communication from the club about renewing my contract, so I’m treating this as my last season and will see what happens after that. It’s not within my control, but nobody has approached me from the club. We’ll see what unfolds.”
Salah, whose current contract is set to expire next summer, joined Liverpool in 2017 from Roma for what was then a club-record fee.
