Starting Monday, August 12, 2024, the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) will offer a 25% fare discount to commuters using the Blue Line between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays. Additionally, the travel time between Mile 12 and Marina has been reduced from 25 minutes to 18 minutes.

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has also increased the number of daily trips on the Blue Line from 54 to 72, with trains running every 18 minutes in each direction. The updated timetable is available on the LAMATA website, stations, and social media handles.

According to LAMATA’s general director, Abimbola Akinajo, the new schedule aims to reduce journey times, encourage more riders to use the train system during off-peak periods, and reduce transport spending.

Since its launch on September 4, 2023, the Blue Line has carried approximately 2 million passengers. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has set a target of 74 trips for the LRMT Blue Line by the end of November.

The introduction of the Blue Line has been well-received by commuters, who appreciate its speed, convenience, and safety. A recent video showcased passengers enjoying their first ride on the modern and spacious carriages, highlighting the positive impact of the rail service on their daily travel.
