Palestinian officials reported that Israeli troops killed five Palestinians, including two women, during a raid on a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank early Tuesday. The head of the camp’s popular committee, Faisal Salamah, confirmed the casualties, stating that the incident occurred in Tulkarem in the northern West Bank. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, a 30-year-old man was treated for gunshot wounds to his abdomen, thigh, and hand, while three women sustained shrapnel wounds, with one woman injured in the eye.
The Wafa Palestinian news agency reported that the raid involved more than 25 military vehicles, including bulldozers, which entered the camp and used rubble to block its narrow alleys.
Tulkarem is recognized as a center of Palestinian militant operations and often subjected to raids by Israeli forces.
Violence in the West Bank has intensified following Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, which sparked conflict in Gaza.
According to health ministry data, at least 579 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers in the region since the beginning of the conflict.
