The All Progressives Congress Working Committee for Ekiti State examined Governor Biodun Oyebanji‘s performance on Thursday. It resolved to support him for a second term in office, voting him with a vote of confidence.
Following the meeting, the interim chairman of the Ekiti PDP, Mr Sola Elesin stated that “all the state executives have resolved that the governor should continue in office beyond 2026 based on his superlative performance across the board”.
According to Elesin, the “well-formulated policies and programmes of the Oyebanji government has brought succor to Ekiti people.”
“These have made the governor govern seamlessly with the attendant socio-economic development of the state and better life for the people,” he said.
He urged party members to make sure they win all next municipal, state, and federal elections in order to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye, Special Advisor on Political and Inter-party Matters Chief Jide Awe, and other prominent members of the parties were present at the meeting.
Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the State Working Committee, the party leadership, and his two predecessors for their assistance in securing the success of his administration: Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
He said, “I must thank party members for passing a vote of confidence in my administration. I am so happy about that and this will be a regular meeting to discuss with them as the situation arises.
“My message for our members is to love one another. We should continue to hold the ground for our party and pray for this administration. We should also open our windows and doors to bring in more people into the party and as well maintain peace among themselves.”
