A Chinese man, Gz Zhen, has been detained by the Abia State Police Command on suspicion of killing a female employee named Ocheze Munachi Ogbonna by pushing her down from a crane.
According to Naija News, Chris Nkwonta, a member of the House of Representatives for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency of Abia State, claimed that the deceased passed away as a result of being pushed down from a crane by a Chinese expatriate who worked at Inner Galaxy Steel Company because she had refused his advances in love.
In a statement, the federal senator expressed her profound grief over Ocheze’s passing and denounced the Chinese expat’s purported behavior as evil and showing complete disrespect for human life.
Notwithstanding that his district is recognized for its tranquility, the federal representative insisted on the victim’s justice.
However, in response, Inner Galaxy Steel Company refuted the claims in a statement released on Wednesday by Ceng Jing, its public affairs manager.
According to Jing, Ocheze’s unfortunate fall occurred because she fell asleep while operating the crane, and Nigerian workers there can corroborate to the incident.
After her passing, young people in the neighborhood demanded that Gz Zhen, the manager, be taken into custody.
The suspect has been taken into custody, according to Maureen Chinaka, Public Relations Officer for the Abia State Police Command, who made this revelation in an interview with Punch. An investigation is still underway, she added.
She said, “We got a report alleging that Mr. GZ ZHEN, through his actions, led to the death of one of his staff members by the name of Vivian Ocheze Munachi.
“The suspect has been arrested while an investigation is ongoing.”
