The honorable minister of foreign affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar will represent President Tinubu at the 2024 US-African business summit in Dallas Texas.
In a statement by the senior special assistant to the president on media and communications, in the office of the vice president, Stanley Nkwocha, the vice president Kashim Shettima was scheduled to represent the president but as a result of a technical fault with his aircraft, he had to abort his journey.
The vice president will focus on national duties while Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar will represent the president.
The submit features high level dialogues, networking sessions and general sessions which aims at bringing together political and business leaders from across Africa United States,and other regions in order to foster economic cooperations and explore investment opportunities between the United States and African countries.
Other African leaders expected at the summit include President Joseph Boakai of Liberia; Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi; Joao Lourenço of Angola; Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi of the Republic of Botswana; José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde; and Nthomeng Majara, deputy prime minister of the kingdom of Lesotho.
The minister of Foreign Affairs is expected to speak on African Infrastructure Investment with a focus on impact and returns and also to speak on a high-level panel on agribusiness.
He is also expected to attend other meetings in relation to the summit and after that he will be returning back to the country.
