Alhaji Abdulmutallib Sansani, a third-class chief of the Sansani Chiefdom in Gassol Local Government Area, Taraba State, was shot and killed by unidentified assailants on Thursday night.

According to a source who spoke to a correspondent from Punch, said that the monarch was killed at around 10:25pm. Apparently the source prayed with the chief before incident happened. The source requested that his name was mentioned because of the sensitive nature of the matter.

“The gunmen trailed him to one of his houses outside the palace and killed him.

“He left the palace around 7pm after prayers and was killed a few hours later.

“We suspect that the gunmen were monitoring him. They trailed and killed him in one of his houses outside of the main palace,” the source said.

Punch noted that more information on this will come later.
