On Thursday night, gunmen abducted Mr. Joshua Rogers, a journalist and reporter for Channels Television, from his home in Rumuosi, in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Rogers, who works for his organization and covers the Rivers State Government House, was allegedly followed home after closing his office.Around nine o’clock at night, the miscreants harassed him before he got out of his car, brandished a gun, and drove him and his automobile off to somewhere they didn’t know.
The reporter had previously covered an event at Ndoni, in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara, officially opened a Primary Healthcare Center, according to a source who asked not to have his name publicized.
The PAMO Educational Foundation established by Dr. Peter Odili, the former governor of Rivers, built the building and gave it to the state on Thursday.
“Yes, he was abducted last night at his Rumuosi residence and taken away in his car by some unknown gunmen,” the source confirmed.
“We are pleading with the abductors to promptly and safely free him. He’s not a moneybags; he’s just a journalist doing his job. I therefore don’t know why he was abducted.
Additionally, It was also learned that the thugs had gotten in touch with his wife and asked for N30 million in ransom before they would let him go.
According to PUNCH Online, Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokeswoman for the State Police Command was contacted multiple times, but she did not answer. Therefore, attempts to get confirmation were fruitless. As of Friday morning, Iringe-Koko had not responded to a text message that had been sent to her.
