Anambra Guber Aspirant Valentine Ozigbo Dumps Labour Party

Valentine Ozigbo, a former governorship candidate in Anambra State, has officially resigned from the Labour Party (LP), raising speculations about his next political move ahead of the 2025 elections.

Ozigbo, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer in the 2021 governorship election before aligning with the Labour Party, announced his departure in a statement on Tuesday. He cited internal party issues and the need to pursue his political aspirations in a more suitable environment as reasons for his exit.

“I appreciate my time in the Labour Party and the relationships I built, but I have decided to step away to explore new political opportunities that align with my vision for Anambra and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

His decision comes amid growing tension within the Labour Party over leadership disputes at the national and state levels. While he did not immediately indicate whether he would join another party, there are speculations he may align with a major political force ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

Ozigbo, a former CEO of Transcorp Plc, had previously gained political traction when he left the PDP in 2022 to support Peter Obi’s presidential bid under the Labour Party. His exit from LP marks another significant shift in his political trajectory.

With the Anambra 2025 governorship election drawing closer, political analysts believe Ozigbo’s next move could reshape the race, especially if he aligns with a strong opposition party.
