Edo Assembly Suspends All Local Government Leaders for Disobeying Governor

byBilkisu Kasim

The Edo State House of Assembly has imposed a two-month suspension on the chairpersons and vice chairpersons of the 18 local government councils, following accusations of disobedience to Governor Monday Okpebholo. The suspension came after the governor filed a formal complaint, alleging that the council leaders had failed to submit their financial reports to the state government.

Governor Okpebholo criticized the chairpersons for their actions, describing them as insubordination and severe misconduct. As a result, he requested that the Assembly take action on the matter.

When the issue was raised for discussion, Mr. Isibor Adeh, representing Esan North East 1, proposed the motion for suspension, which was seconded by Mr. Donald Okogbe, representing Akoko-Edo 2.

The Speaker of the House, Mr. Blessing Agbebaku, emphasized that all members should share their opinions before proceeding with the vote.

After the debate, the Speaker instructed the Clerk of the House, Mr. Yahaya Omogbai, to conduct a roll call to determine the level of support or opposition for the suspension. The outcome saw fourteen members in favor, six against, and three abstaining.

As part of the suspension, the House has appointed the leaders of the legislative arms to assume leadership of the councils in question. The governor had earlier instructed, on Tuesday, December 3rd, for the council chairpersons to submit their financial records covering the period from September 4, 2023, until the present, within 48 hours.

This submission was to be made through the Assets Verification Committee, under the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The directive was given during a meeting held at the Government House in Benin City, where the governor was represented by his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.

    Anabolic Steroids: A Comprehensive Overview

Anabolic steroids are a class of synthetic
drugs that mimic the effects of testosterone, one of the body’s naturally produced hormones.
They are often used by athletes, bodybuilders, and individuals seeking
to enhance muscle growth, physical performance, and overall appearance.

Here’s what you need to know about anabolic steroids:

    Types of Anabolic Steroids

Anabolic steroids can be categorized into two
main types based on their chemical structure:
    – Testosterone-derived: Includes hormones like methyltestosterone,
    dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and others.
    – Synthetic anabolic steroids: These are lab-created compounds designed
to mimic the effects of testosterone but have more potent and varied effects.

    How Do They Work?

Anabolic steroids work by binding to androgen receptors in cells, signaling the body to produce more proteins,
which leads to muscle growth. They also increase the production of red blood cells and can affect other hormone systems in the body.

    The Benefits

    – Muscle growth and strength
    – Improved physical performance
    – Enhanced recovery after exercise
    – Better mental clarity and mood

    Risks and Side Effects

The use of anabolic steroids is not without risks.
    Potential side effects include:
    – Acne and skin irritation
    – Hair loss
    – Aggressive behavior
    – Liver damage
    – Testosterone dependency
    – Edema (swelling)
    – Cardiovascular issues

How to Detect Anabolic Steroid Use

Athletes and individuals may be tested for steroid use through urine
tests, blood tests, or other analytical methods. These tests can detect the presence of steroids or their metabolites in the body.

    Anabolic Steroids: Legal Status

The possession, distribution, or use of anabolic steroids without a legitimate medical reason is illegal in many countries.

They are classified as controlled substances under international law.

Always consult with a healthcare professional before using any steroid or hormone supplement to
ensure your safety and understand the potential risks.
Misuse of these compounds can lead to serious health consequences.

A List of the Major Anabolic Steroids and Everything You Wanted
    to Know About Them

From testosterone to HGH—here are the
most popular drugs used in the bodybuilding community, broken down.

    Anadrol

Anadrol, also known as Oxandrolone, is a synthetic steroid that imitates the effects of testosterone.
It’s commonly used for muscle growth and strength gains. While it’s effective, it also
carries notable side effects like hepatotoxicity
    and hormonal imbalance.

    Anavar

Anavar (Oxibole) is another powerful anabolic steroid
that helps in increasing muscle mass and reducing fat deposits.
It’s often used during cutting phases due to its ability
to preserve lean muscle while shedding excess body fat.

    Arimidex

Arimidex, a derivative of anabolic steroids, is primarily used to combat estrogen-related side effects in steroid cycles.
It helps in maintaining a healthier ratio of anabolic to antagonistic hormones.

    Clenbuterol

Clenbuterol is a beta-agonist that works by increasing the rate at which fat is burned, making
it a popular choice for cutting and lean muscle gains.

However, its misuse can lead to cardiac issues and other health complications.

    Deca-Durabolin

Deca-Durabolin, or nandrolone, is known for its ability to promote muscle growth and recovery.
It’s often used in steroid cycles to enhance
performance, though it can also have serious side effects like liver damage.

    Dianabol

Dianabol, one of the most well-known anabolic steroids,
is designed to mimic the hormone testosterone, promoting muscle growth and strength.
However, its use is associated with severe health risks,
    including cardiovascular issues.

    Equipoise

Equipoise (boldenone) is a steroid that’s
used for its ability to increase protein synthesis
and muscle mass. While it’s popular among athletes, its misuse can lead
to significant liver damage and hormonal imbalance.

    HGH (Human Growth Hormone)

HGH is naturally produced in the body by the pituitary gland and is essential for growth and development.
In bodybuilding circles, synthetic HGH is often used to enhance muscle growth and recovery,
though its misuse can result in severe health consequences.

    Proviron

Proviron (methyltestosterone) is a synthetic steroid that’s used to treat conditions like
hypogonadism. In bodybuilding, it’s also used to boost testosterone levels and enhance muscle
growth, though it can cause a range of side effects.

    Testosterone

Testosterone is the primary hormone responsible for muscle growth, fat metabolism, and overall
vitality. While there are numerous forms of synthetic testosterone available, their misuse can lead to serious health
risks like testicular atrophy and cardiovascular issues.

    Trenbolone

Trenbolone is a potent anabolic steroid that’s used
for its ability to stimulate muscle growth and fat loss.
It’s often employed in cutting cycles but carries significant risks, including liver damage and psychological effects.

    Winstrol

Winstrol (stanozolol) is a synthetic steroid that’s primarily used for its ability to build lean muscle mass and
enhance strength. It’s also known for its tendency to cause hepatotoxicity if misused.
