APC Faction Plans New Party, Targets Tinubu’s Ouster in 2027

Team New Nigeria (TNN), a splinter group formerly aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared its intention to register as a political party with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The group unveiled plans to challenge economic hardship and governance issues under the APC-led administration.

Addressing journalists in Kano, the TNN National Leader, Modibbo Farakwai, criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu for its alleged inability to address security challenges and governance failures. Farakwai, a founding member of the APC, expressed dismay at the exclusion of TNN members from the party’s strategic plans despite their pivotal role in APC’s previous electoral success.

“There is widespread and rising poverty and unemployment across the country. Social services are in a state of collapse, and socio-economic infrastructure is in irredeemable decay. Standards of living have plummeted, while the cost of living and dying has risen astronomically,” Farakwai said.

He accused the APC government of mediocrity and a lack of vision, which he claimed had exacerbated the nation’s challenges, leaving Nigerians in dire straits.

Mobilization for 2027

Farakwai revealed that TNN is working to mobilize millions of supporters across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to wrest power from the APC in the 2027 general election. He assured Nigerians that TNN is prepared to tackle the country’s critical challenges and offer practical solutions to improve the socio-economic situation.

“Our movement is born out of a commitment to restore hope, address widespread discontent, and usher in a new era of governance that truly works for Nigerians,” he added.

The announcement by TNN comes amid growing discontent within the APC, with other prominent figures also voicing concerns about the party’s leadership and direction. Political analysts suggest the emergence of TNN could signal a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
