Pop culture and entertainment giant MTV Base has committed to supporting the Africa Creative Market (ACM), a prominent event bringing together industry professionals, artists, and music enthusiasts, with its dedicated ‘Music Day’. According to a statement from MTV Base, the brand will host its Music Day at the ACM, scheduled to take place on Friday in Lagos.

As part of its sponsorship, MTV Base will facilitate panel discussions and activities designed to enhance the global visibility of African music. The brand emphasized that these discussions would cover key topics, including strategies for promoting African artists on the international stage, exploring innovative music production methods, and navigating the rapidly changing music industry landscape.

One of the panels, titled ‘Beyond Borders: Building Global Audiences for African Music,’ will feature industry experts sharing strategies to help African artists overcome international barriers. MTV Base noted that the panelists would provide valuable insights on using social media, establishing global partnerships, and leveraging digital platforms to amplify African music worldwide.

Another panel, ‘The Art of Sampling: How It Works and When Does It Become Theft?’ will delve into the legal and creative dimensions of music sampling, examining the balance between artistic inspiration and copyright infringement.

Busola Komolafe, Senior Channels Manager at Paramount Africa, highlighted MTV Base’s commitment to shaping the future of African music through thought-provoking discussions and expert guidance, especially through its involvement with ACM. She stated, “The ACM is an ideal platform to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities that will enhance African music’s global reach.”

ACM Communications Director Yetty Ogunnubi added that MTV Base’s participation in Music Day greatly enhances the event, providing valuable guidance to artists and industry professionals eager to expand their international presence.
