The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has immediately dissolved the caretaker chairmen of all 44 local government areas, as reported by NAN on Thursday.

This announcement was made in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature.

The dissolution follows a week after the state House of Assembly approved a two-month extension for their tenure, which was originally set to end on September 8. Lawmakers stated that the extension aimed to ensure continuity in local governance.

Local government elections are set to occur on October 26.

Yusuf has instructed the caretaker chairmen to transfer leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management.

“This dissolution affects all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors,” Yusuf noted, expressing appreciation for the caretaker chairmen’s contributions to their communities and hinting at possible future collaboration.
