Emir Sanusi Requests FG’s Approval to Mitigate Fulani Crisis

The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has shown his willingness to step in and address the ongoing crises involving the Fulani in Nigeria, aiming to establish a lasting solution to these issues.

During a meeting on Tuesday with the leadership of the Fulani group, Tapital Pulaku Njode Jam Nigeria, at his palace, Sanusi emphasized the urgent need for the government to resolve the Fulani crises once and for all.

He stated, “However, this can only be achieved with the full backing of the Federal Government, as they possess the power and resources necessary to implement my strategies. I will contribute the ideas and methodologies essential for addressing the issue effectively.

“There is no denying that the Fulani in Nigeria have endured significant attacks, social isolation, killings, and the rustling of their cattle. These injustices have been widespread throughout the country, and it is crucial to take decisive action to rectify the situation.

“At the same time, it cannot be ignored that a few individuals among the Fulani have tarnished the reputation of the community, leading to the suffering they face today.

“Now is the moment for the government, in collaboration with us, to devise a lasting solution to these crises, particularly the conflicts between the Fulani and farmers, as well as the criminal activities attributed to some Fulani members. I am fully prepared to assist the government in realizing the goal of peace and prosperity among the Fulani and, indeed, all Nigerians. Their hardships must end, and I am confident that, together, we can achieve this.”

Madibo Jada, the leader of the Fulani group, expressed that they had come to the palace to reaffirm their loyalty to the Emir, who had been appointed as their leader long ago by the Lamido of Adamawa.

“Our members primarily reside in remote areas, and if I were to call only the youth wing of our group to assemble here, this palace would be too small to accommodate them. We have members spread across all 36 states of Nigeria,” Jada remarked. He added that they believe Emir Sanusi possesses the capability to restore their tarnished image and accurately convey their contributions to the socio-economic development of the nation.
