The Nigerian Army has published the names of applicants who have qualified for the Selection Board assessment for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027.
The announcement was made through the Army’s official X handle on Thursday, with applicants asked to check their selection status on the military’s recruitment portal, nashortservice.army.mil.ng.
“Shortlisted candidates have been directed to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy Ribadu Campus (Old Site) in Kaduna State starting on 23 November 2026.
“The Selection Board exercise is scheduled to run from 23 November to 11 December 2026. The SSCC programme offers qualified Nigerian civilians and serving military personnel the opportunity to be commissioned as officers into the Combat Arms (Infantry and Armour) and Combat Support Arms (Artillery, Engineers, Signals, and Intelligence).
“Successful candidates who complete training are typically commissioned as Second Lieutenants on a 15-year short service commission,” the Nigerian Army stated.
The recruitment exercise covers individuals who submitted applications from August to October 17, 2026. They have been urged to access the portal without delay to establish whether they made the list and review the instructions provided for the next stage.
Those selected are expected to come along with the original versions of their application documents. These include academic qualifications, birth certificates or age declarations, certificates of state origin, National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) slips, as well as duly endorsed photographs and guarantor documents.
The military authority has also cautioned applicants against falling victim to fraudsters operating through fake recruitment platforms or demanding money in exchange for assistance. It stressed that participation in every phase of the recruitment exercise attracts no fee.
Shortlisted applicants have been advised to begin preparations for the forthcoming assessments, which will cover their health condition, physical ability and performance during interviews.
The Army reiterated that its officer recruitment exercise is guided by competence, physical readiness and fairness.
“For the most accurate and up-to-date information, candidates and the general public are directed solely to the official recruitment website: nashortservice.army.mil.ng,” the post read.
