The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, has initiated a political support group aimed at mobilising grassroots backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah’s second-term bid in the 2027 general elections.
The group, known as As Tinubu & Mbah Moves 2027 (ATM), is designed to coordinate supporters across Enugu State and strengthen political mobilisation ahead of the elections.
The initiative recently held its maiden stakeholders’ meeting in Enugu, bringing together representatives from the state’s 17 local government areas to establish a coordinated structure for its activities.
Speaking at the meeting, Udeh called on members to focus on political participation, organisational discipline and grassroots engagement as they work towards the group’s objectives.
He said electoral success would depend on leadership performance, competence and the ability of political officeholders to fulfil their promises to the electorate.
The minister also encouraged members to build an effective mobilisation network extending from polling units and wards to local government areas and the state level.
Udeh linked the initiative to efforts to consolidate support for Tinubu and Mbah, urging participants to engage communities and communicate their reasons for supporting the two leaders ahead of 2027.
The group’s coordinator, Igboke Onyebuchi, commended the minister for establishing the platform and expressed confidence in its capacity to expand political engagement across Enugu State.
Onyebuchi said the organisation had selected representatives from different parts of the state and intended to strengthen its presence through local government structures.
During the meeting, chairpersons and secretaries were elected for the group’s local government chapters as part of preparations to expand its operations.
The development comes amid increasing political mobilisation by parties and support groups ahead of the 2027 elections. Tinubu is seeking another presidential term, while Mbah is preparing for a possible second term as governor of Enugu State.
Udeh has previously expressed confidence that the records of both administrations would feature prominently in efforts to attract voter support.
The ATM initiative is expected to focus on grassroots coordination and engagement as political activities intensify in the coming months. Its effectiveness will depend on its ability to organise supporters and sustain its activities across the state.
As the 2027 elections approach, the emergence of the group adds to the growing number of political platforms seeking to mobilise voters and strengthen support for their preferred candidates.
