FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the state’s APC governorship candidate, Kingsley Chinda, have held a four-hour closed-door meeting in Port Harcourt as efforts to strengthen political reconciliation in the state continue.
Wike and Chinda arrived at Fubara’s private residence around 4pm on Tuesday alongside their supporters and met with the governor and members of his political camp.
The meeting, which ended at about 8pm, brought together key political figures and supporters from the two camps, following years of disagreements that had divided the political landscape in Rivers State.
The engagement is also the first known occasion in which Fubara personally hosted or participated in a reconciliation meeting involving his supporters and members of the political camp previously opposed to him.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to consolidate the renewed relationship between the different political groups and move beyond their previous disagreements.
However, the participants did not disclose details of the discussions or the outcome of the meeting.
Neither Wike, Chinda nor their supporters spoke to journalists after the meeting, while Fubara and members of his team also declined to comment.
The development comes as political actors in Rivers State continue efforts to strengthen their cooperation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
