The African Action Congress (AAC) in Oyo State has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), urging the anti-graft agency to closely monitor the disbursement and use of state funds ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The petition, dated September 9, 2026, was submitted through the party’s legal representatives, Damilare Adenola and Co Law Practice, and was received by the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Office on September 14.

In the petition addressed to the Zonal Director of the EFCC in Ibadan, the AAC called for increased scrutiny of the spending patterns of the Oyo State Government before, during and after the election period.

The party’s Oyo State Chairman, Kayode Babayomi, said the AAC has a legitimate interest in ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of public resources, particularly as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.

According to the party, effective monitoring of government expenditure during the election cycle is necessary to guard against the alleged misuse of public funds for political purposes.

The AAC maintained that protecting public resources is essential to promoting accountability, strengthening democratic institutions and safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC had not issued an official response to the petition.
