Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Shehu Baraya as the new Head of Service of the state.
The appointment follows the retirement of the former Head of Service, Yakubu Haidara, who recently completed his service in the Zamfara State Civil Service.
The appointment was announced by the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, who said the decision was part of the administration’s efforts to ensure continuity and effective leadership within the state’s public service.
Baraya, before his new appointment, served as a Permanent Secretary at the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission. He has also occupied permanent secretary positions in various ministries and departments within the state government.
His experience across different areas of public administration is expected to assist him in effectively managing the state’s civil service and coordinating government workers in the implementation of official policies and programmes.
In approving the appointment, Governor Lawal commended the outgoing Head of Service, Haidara, for his years of service and contributions to the development of the state.
The governor acknowledged the role played by the civil service in supporting the implementation of government policies and delivering essential services to residents.
Lawal also congratulated Baraya on his appointment and charged him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new position.
The governor urged the new Head of Service to promote professionalism, discipline, efficiency and accountability within the Zamfara State Civil Service.
He further encouraged Baraya to strengthen cooperation among ministries, departments and agencies while ensuring that government workers remain focused on delivering quality services to the people.
The appointment comes as the Zamfara State Government continues efforts to improve the efficiency of its public institutions and strengthen service delivery.
The Head of Service occupies a key position within the state administration and is responsible for providing leadership and coordination across the civil service.
Baraya is therefore expected to work with permanent secretaries, directors and other senior civil servants to ensure effective implementation of government policies and programmes.
The new Head of Service will also be expected to promote a productive working environment and encourage civil servants to uphold the principles of integrity and dedication to duty.
His appointment is expected to provide continuity following the retirement of Haidara and maintain stability within the state’s administrative structure.
The Zamfara Government has continued to emphasise the importance of an efficient civil service in achieving its development objectives.
The administration believes that a professional and well-coordinated workforce is essential for translating government policies into practical programmes that can positively affect residents.
Baraya’s assumption of office is therefore expected to bring his experience in public administration to the leadership of the state’s civil service.
The new Head of Service is expected to formally take over the responsibilities of the office and begin working with various government institutions to advance the administration’s objectives.
Governor Lawal’s administration has also urged public servants to remain committed to their responsibilities and support efforts aimed at improving governance and development across the state.
The appointment takes effect immediately, marking the beginning of Baraya’s tenure as the chief administrative officer of the Zamfara State Civil Service.
