Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for retaining Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing the move as a reflection of the confidence reposed in the Vice President’s leadership and contributions to the administration.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Governor Radda said the decision underscores the President’s recognition of Shettima’s commitment to national service and the responsibilities he has undertaken since assuming office.

According to the governor, the Vice President has remained a dependable partner in government, playing significant roles in the implementation of key policies and programmes aimed at advancing the country’s development agenda.

Radda noted that Shettima has consistently demonstrated competence in carrying out assignments delegated to him, adding that his experience in governance and public administration has strengthened the work of the current administration.

He observed that the Vice President has been entrusted with overseeing several strategic national initiatives, including efforts to support the growth of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), while also contributing to policy discussions on the economy, energy development and other critical sectors.

The governor said the scope of these responsibilities requires a leader with sound judgment, administrative capacity and the ability to coordinate stakeholders across different levels of government.

He maintained that the President’s decision to retain Shettima is a clear indication of his confidence in the Vice President’s performance and the value he brings to the administration.

Radda further stated that continuity within the nation’s leadership would help sustain ongoing reforms and ensure that programmes already initiated by the government are effectively consolidated.

He expressed optimism that the Vice President would continue to provide strong support to President Tinubu in advancing policies designed to improve the economy, strengthen national institutions and enhance the welfare of Nigerians.

The Katsina governor also praised the working relationship between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, saying their partnership has promoted stability and effective coordination within the federal government.

He added that maintaining the existing presidential ticket would provide consistency in governance and reinforce public confidence in the administration’s long-term objectives.

While congratulating Shettima on his retention, Radda wished him continued wisdom, good health and success as preparations begin for the next general election.

He also expressed hope that the administration would build on its achievements by implementing more people-centred programmes capable of addressing the country’s economic and developmental challenges.

The governor concluded by reaffirming his support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, expressing confidence that the Vice President would remain committed to delivering on the administration’s mandate and contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s progress if re-elected in 2027.
