The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Benjamin Nwoye, has called on former state chairmen of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other key party stakeholders to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nwoye said that as opposition parties continue to regroup, APC members must not allow their activities to distract the president. Instead, he urged party faithful to intensify efforts to reconnect with members and convince Nigerians that Tinubu remains the best option to lead the country.
He made the call on Tuesday while receiving members of the G-37, a group comprising former state chairmen of the defunct ACN and other legacy party leaders, during a solidarity visit to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
A former ACN state chairman himself, Nwoye assured the delegation that President Tinubu does not forget loyal party members, urging them to remain steadfast as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
He acknowledged that not every loyal member had been appointed into government but maintained that Tinubu values commitment, loyalty and sacrifice.
“My plea is that you should remain steadfast. Asiwaju is not someone who forgets. By the grace of God, he has a good memory,” Nwoye said.
“As the opposition continues to regroup, it is our responsibility not to allow them distract our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We must mobilise our members, reconnect with them and reignite their energy. We have no better option than to re-elect a man who has a clear vision for reforming Nigeria.”
Nwoye highlighted what he described as key achievements of the Tinubu administration, particularly ongoing road infrastructure projects across various parts of the country, saying Nigerians were already benefiting from the government’s development initiatives.
He also stressed the importance of recognising the contributions of the APC’s founding members, noting that while the party continues to welcome new members, those who laid its foundation should not be forgotten.
Earlier, the leader of the G-37, Comrade Cletus Obum, appealed to the party leadership to give greater consideration to legacy members in political appointments, committee memberships and election assignments.
According to Obum, recognising the party’s pioneers would strengthen loyalty and preserve the progressive ideals upon which the APC was founded.
He said the group remained committed to the success of President Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We appeal to you to continue advocating for us. This is not about division. It is about recognising those who built the house so they are not left outside in the rain.
“Even if only a fraction of these members are given opportunities, it will go a long way in strengthening loyalty and commitment,” he said.
