Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on party aspirants who were unsuccessful in the recently concluded primaries to accept the outcome and remain committed to the party’s vision.

Speaking during the party’s second National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Obi urged members to put aside any disappointment from the primary elections and work together to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He stressed the importance of unity, noting that the NDC’s progress depends on the collective efforts of its members. Obi also acknowledged the contributions of party leaders, lawmakers, state chairmen, and other stakeholders present at the meeting, while apologising for the delayed start of the gathering.

Describing the NDC as a young but rapidly growing political movement, Obi highlighted its achievements in successfully conducting congresses, conventions, and primaries within a short period.

He reminded members that elections naturally produce both winners and losers, adding that the true test of leadership and commitment lies in how individuals respond after the contest. He encouraged all aspirants and supporters to remain focused on building a credible alternative capable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges and delivering effective governance.
