Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described the NDC screening process as a true reflection of democracy in action.
Obi made the remark while speaking with journalists after undergoing screening by the party’s committee headed by former Ebonyi State governor, Sam Egwu.
According to him, the exercise demonstrated the party’s commitment to due process and transparency.
“This is democracy in action because the NDC has chosen to do things the proper way. When a party says there will be screening, it should be conducted thoroughly and credibly,” Obi said.
He noted that Nigerians deserve to know whether candidates meet the constitutional requirements and can provide authentic documents to support their claims.
“This process helps to verify whether everything a candidate has declared is accurate and whether the person can answer important questions about their commitment to building a united, secure, and prosperous Nigeria,” he added.
Obi explained that the screening lasted more than two hours because committee members carefully examined issues relating to competence, credibility, and national development.
