2027: APC Says Peter Obi Focused on Securing Tickets, Not Building Structures

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised former presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of focusing his political strategy for the 2027 elections on securing party tickets rather than building enduring political structures.

Speaking on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka alleged that Obi is “constantly searching” for political platforms where he can emerge as a candidate without facing internal contest.

“Peter Obi is perpetually shopping for a party where he can clinch a ticket uncontested. He is neither interested in building a party nor capable of doing so. His approach is simply to move from one platform to another in pursuit of a presidential ticket,” Morka said.

Morka also criticised recent opposition gatherings, particularly a political summit held in Ibadan, dismissing claims that it reflected any meaningful consensus among participants.

“There is no real consensus coming out of Ibadan,” he said.

He further accused opposition coalitions of lacking a clear governance agenda, claiming their engagements are largely centred on criticising the ruling party rather than presenting policy alternatives.

“When they gathered in Ibadan, one would expect serious discussions about plans for Nigeria. Instead, as seen during the so-called ADC National Convention, their focus remained on attacking the APC,” he added.

Morka maintained that the APC remains committed to governance and urged opposition figures to prioritise substantive policy development as the 2027 general elections approach.
