Peter Obi Declares 2027 Presidential Bid Under ADC

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Obi made the announcement during a political gathering in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, over the weekend. He explained that his decision to leave the Labour Party (LP) followed information he received indicating that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would not recognize the party’s leadership as long as he remained a member. According to him, there were also efforts underway to prevent him from appearing on the ballot.

“I left LP when I was informed that as long as I remained there, INEC would not recognise its leadership and that there were moves to keep me off the ballot,” he said.

Reaffirming his determination, Obi stated that he would contest the 2027 presidential election regardless of any obstacles.

“I will contest the coming election even if it is conducted anywhere. And if they refuse to transmit election results, we will ensure the results are transmitted,” he said, drawing loud applause from supporters.

In a follow-up post shared on his X handle on Monday morning, Obi further pledged to ensure that every Nigerian vote counts in the 2027 election.
