Nokia Separates AI Unit to Accelerate 6G Development

Nokia has announced plans to separate its artificial intelligence unit from the main company as part of a strategic push toward next-generation 6G networks. The move reflects the Finnish telecom giant’s intention to concentrate its resources on developing ultra-fast, low-latency communication technologies that could redefine mobile connectivity over the next decade.

The new standalone AI entity will focus on creating intelligent software and network solutions that can optimize 6G performance, while the parent company will direct its attention to hardware, infrastructure, and global deployment strategies. Executives say the spin-off will allow both divisions to innovate more rapidly and respond to market demands independently.

Industry observers note that AI is increasingly becoming a critical component of advanced mobile networks, helping with traffic management, predictive maintenance, and energy efficiency. By separating the AI operations, Nokia aims to accelerate research while maintaining a clear focus on the commercial rollout of 6G technology.

This restructuring also signals Nokia’s ambition to remain competitive in the global telecom landscape, especially as rivals invest heavily in AI-driven solutions and 6G prototypes. Analysts predict that this move could position Nokia as a leader in combining cutting-edge AI with next-generation connectivity, potentially shaping the future of digital communication.
