Ajagba Says Attempts to Unseat Governor Otti in 2027 Will Fail

The Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has declared that opposition efforts to remove Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 elections will amount to futility. Ajagba made the statement while hosting the new leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abia State Council, in Umuahia.

According to him, those attempting to regroup against the administration are the same individuals responsible for the state’s past challenges.
“Those who created the problems of the past are the same people re-grouping again; but the people are wiser now. They can see the transparency and direction of this government,” he said.

Ajagba added that Abians have experienced quality leadership under Governor Otti, whom he described as a leader committed to serving the people rather than using public funds to please cronies.
“Otti has not come to share public money, but to create prosperity. True empowerment is about helping people to be productive, not dependent,” he said.

He acknowledged the vital role of the media in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance, assuring that the Otti administration remains open to partnership with journalists. He commended the chapel for its professionalism and objective coverage of government activities.

Ajagba also congratulated the new chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Steve Oko, appreciating the team’s visit and pledging continued government cooperation and support.

Earlier in his remarks, Oko explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and highlighting the essential role of the media as partners in progress. He emphasized that journalists, as society’s watchdogs, are constitutionally and morally obligated to hold leaders accountable.

Oko also appreciated the “observable progress recorded by the Otti administration in less than three years,” urging the Chief of Staff and the government to sustain the developmental momentum.
