Representatives from Libya’s House of Representatives and the High Council of State convened on Sunday to push forward negotiations on appointing and unifying holders of key sovereign positions, a move seen as crucial to stabilizing Libya’s fractured political landscape.

According to an official statement, the meeting brought together members from both legislative bodies as part of ongoing efforts to implement the country’s political roadmap and promote institutional cohesion.

Attending on behalf of the High Council of State were Dr. Abdullah Juwan, Dr. Al-Ajeeli Abu Sdeil, Mona Koukleh, and Othman Abed Madhkoor. Representing the House of Representatives were Adnan Al-Shaab and Al-Mahdi Al-Aour.

The latest talks are a continuation of previous discussions held in Benghazi and focused on finalizing mechanisms for nominating and appointing individuals to Libya’s top sovereign roles. These include leadership positions in national institutions such as the Central Bank, the Audit Bureau, and the High National Elections Commission.

Officials said the talks aimed to settle the remaining procedural details and ensure that the appointment process aligns with the national interest and bolsters the integrity of Libya’s institutions.

Both delegations agreed to maintain close coordination to implement the decisions reached during the meeting and to continue working towards greater institutional unity and political consensus.

The dialogue reflects a broader push to overcome years of division and lay the groundwork for future national elections and governance reform.
