Kaduna State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Masha, has offered his take on Nigeria’s political direction ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking during a live segment on Landslide News on Tuesday, October 1, 2025, Masha called for serious electoral reforms to rebuild trust in the country’s democratic process.

Furthermore, Reflecting on the possibility of former President Goodluck Jonathan returning to the race, Masha praised Jonathan’s history of promoting peace and his respected global image. “If Jonathan decides to run again, it’ll be tough for any opponent to match his experience and legacy,” Masha said.

He also acknowledged Peter Obi’s growing popularity. The former Anambra State governor, known for his transparency and economic discipline, has won strong support, particularly among younger voters. Masha noted that Obi’s clean image and broad appeal could make him a strong candidate.

In the same vein,Political analyst Kingsley Okafor, who joined the discussion, agreed that Jonathan and Obi are currently the most viable presidential options for the PDP. According to Okafor, the party faces a key decision: go with a veteran leader like Jonathan or embrace a fresh, reform-minded figure like Obi.

Politically,Masha did not endorse either candidate, Instead, he urged for a transparent and fair internal primary process. “Let the best candidate emerge. Whether it’s Jonathan or Obi, we must unite behind whoever wins fairly,” he said.

The conversation also touched briefly on former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, with Okafor noting that El-Rufai’s political moves and alliances could significantly shape the 2027 race, despite uncertainties around his current affiliations.

As the PDP prepares for its internal selection process, Chief Masha’s comments reflect broader debates within the party, between returning to familiar leadership or embracing new ideas for the future of Nigeria
