APC Blames Atiku, PDP for Nigeria’s Lingering Insecurity

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of laying the groundwork for the insecurity that continues to trouble Nigeria.

The ruling party’s reaction came after Atiku condemned last week’s terrorist attack in Wagga Mongoro, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, APC’s Adamawa State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Mohammed Abdullahi, described Atiku’s comments as “shameless grandstanding and the politicisation of grief.”

According to the APC, the PDP administration in which Atiku served was responsible for entrenching the insecurity still being felt today. “Atiku, whose tragic failures in leadership contributed immensely to the current crisis, is now shamelessly using the very monster he helped create to advance his selfish and destabilising agenda,” the party alleged.

The APC further criticised Atiku for what it called his neglect of Adamawa State during his time in power, accusing him of prioritising personal business interests over meaningful development in his hometown of Jada. It also faulted him for remaining silent at the height of Boko Haram’s attacks on Adamawa communities, only to “exploit security challenges for political gain” now.

“Now that peace is gradually returning under APC leadership, he suddenly finds his voice not to unite, but to exploit,” the statement read.

Reaffirming its commitment to restoring lasting peace, the APC assured Adamawa residents of continued support for the military and security agencies in tackling terrorism. The party also extended condolences to families affected by the Madagali attack and urged citizens to remain vigilant while ignoring what it described as Atiku’s “empty posturing.”
