Nigerian superstar Davido has been confirmed as one of the performers at the 2026 Coachella Festival, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing rise of Afrobeats on the global stage.
He will join Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Karol G as part of the star-studded lineup, making his Coachella debut and continuing the tradition of Nigerian artists gracing the world-renowned festival.
Nigeria’s connection to Coachella dates back to 2018, when Wizkid was scheduled to perform but couldn’t attend due to visa issues. That same year, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 brought Afrobeat’s revolutionary energy to the stage.
In 2019, Mr Eazi and Burna Boy performed, with Burna famously criticizing the small font used for his name on the lineup poster, an act of protest that gained global attention. His performance came during the breakout of his Grammy-nominated African Giant era.
Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 returned in 2020, while CKayrepresented Nigeria in 2022 with his hit “Love Nwantiti”.
Burna Boy made a memorable return in 2023, and 2024featured the largest Nigerian contingent yet, including Tems, Wizkid, Spinall, Fireboy DML, and Teni.
In 2025, Seun Kuti appeared for a third time, while Rema made his Coachella debut.
Davido’s upcoming performance highlights Afrobeats’ sustained international growth and its status as one of Africa’s most prominent cultural exports. With rising global streaming numbers and consistent demand for live performances, Nigerian artists continue to solidify their influence worldwide.
