Galaxy Backbone Limited, Nigeria’s government-owned digital infrastructure and shared services provider, has secured the renewal of four prestigious international certifications, a development the company says will boost confidence in the nation’s digital ecosystem while strengthening its defences against cyber threats.
The announcement, made on Wednesday through a statement by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Chidi Okpala, followed a rigorous audit process conducted by the International Standards Organisation (ISO). The recertifications span four globally recognised categories central to quality, service delivery, resilience, and information security.
The renewed standards include ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), which underscores Galaxy Backbone’s commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality services; ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management Systems), which assures resilience and recovery capabilities during crises; ISO 20000 (Service Management Systems), which ensures standardised service delivery and customer satisfaction; and ISO 27001 (Information Security Management Systems), which strengthens data confidentiality, integrity, and protection against cyber risks.
According to the company, these certifications confirm its ability to deliver secure, scalable, and world-class ICT services to federal ministries, departments, and agencies, while also supporting private sector organisations in meeting regulatory requirements and strengthening digital operations.
Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone, said the recertifications represent far more than compliance. They are, he noted, proof of trust and credibility.
“These certifications go beyond compliance; they are a statement of trust. For our customers, this means that the services they depend on,from connectivity to cloud hosting and cybersecurity, meet the highest international standards of quality, resilience, and security,” Adeyanju said.
He explained that the renewals form a key part of Galaxy Backbone’s mission to drive Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda, ensuring organisations can operate securely and competitively in a fast-changing global economy.
The company further stressed that for government institutions, the certifications guarantee that sensitive data and mission-critical services can be hosted securely with strong uptime guarantees and disaster recovery systems. For businesses, the renewed standards offer confidence in secure digital transactions, scalability, and customer trust.
Industry stakeholders, including international partners, can also rely on the certifications as proof of adherence to global best practices, creating a stronger platform for digital inclusion, e-governance, and national development.
Galaxy Backbone linked its latest achievement to the Federal Government’s wider digital economy strategy, which emphasises security, inclusion, and innovation as the foundations of a sustainable digital environment.
Earlier in August 2025, the Federal Government reaffirmed Galaxy Backbone as the official ICT provider for federal institutions, further strengthening the company’s central role in Nigeria’s digital landscape. That endorsement, coming shortly before the recertifications, reflects both the government’s confidence and Galaxy Backbone’s consistency in meeting international standards.
With the renewed certifications, Galaxy Backbone said it remains committed to building trust, ensuring resilience, and supporting Nigeria’s journey toward becoming a secure and inclusive digital hub in Africa and beyond.
