The Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has praised the Enugu State Government for its prompt response and continued efforts to safeguard pastoralists following a recent attack that left one herder dead and over 100 cattle stolen.

In a statement released in Enugu, Gidado Siddiki, MACBAN’s National Deputy Director General, described the incident where six Fulani herders were attacke as “unfortunate,” but expressed confidence in the state government’s handling of the situation.

“Our engagement with the government has been productive. We urge our members to remain calm and trust the ongoing investigation,” Siddiki said.

He extended condolences to the families of the victims, calling the loss a “collective tragedy.” While clarifying that MACBAN does not hold the government responsible for the attack, he emphasized their duty to report such incidents to the authorities.

Siddiki acknowledged the role of security agencies in recovering the victims’ remains, which allowed for proper burial in line with Islamic rites. He also commended the state’s commitment to justice, saying:

“We appreciate the government’s assurances that those behind these heinous acts will be brought to justice.”

Still, Siddiki urged for heightened protection to prevent future attacks, calling for deeper collaboration between communities, the government, and security agencies.“Our hope remains that peace, security, and justice will prevail for all residents of Enugu State,” he concluded.
