Zainab Galadima, daughter of NNPP chieftain Buba Galadima, has predicted a tough road ahead for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, suggesting he may secure as little as 30% of the northern vote.
Speaking on the Mic On podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye of Channels Television, Galadima said northern sentiment toward Tinubu has significantly declined since the 2023 elections.
“Honestly, I don’t have good reviews (from northerners about Tinubu). It’s really bad. Tinubu may get, maybe, 30 percent or less,” she stated. “It’s going to be worse than the 2023 elections… the toughest battle he will ever see.”
Zainab, who previously served as a technical assistant on SDGs in the vice president’s office during Buhari’s first term, also commented on the strength of a growing opposition alliance ahead of 2027.
Her father, Buba Galadima, also welcomed the formation of the new coalition, describing it as a healthy development for Nigeria’s democracy. He encouraged public support for the alliance, which he believes can provide an effective alternative to the current administration.
The opposition bloc, which has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform, includes key political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
