Abuja, Nigeria – June 27, 2025 – A new document has emerged revealing that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) allocated a large tract of land in Abuja to a company linked to Joaquín Wike, son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The development has sparked nationwide outrage amid ongoing reports of land seizures from private citizens over unpaid ground rent.

The document, titled “Offer of Statutory Right of Occupancy,” was issued by the Department of Land Administration under the FCTA. It approves the allocation of Plot No. 454, measuring approximately 350.6614 hectares in the cadastral zone F07 of Igu( a town in Bwari Area Council) Industrial Layout, to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, located at 13, Theba Tseka Street, Wuse II, Abuja.

Dated October 17, 2024, the certificate outlines that the land is for agricultural use and has been allocated for a lease term of 99 years, renewable every five years. The annual rent is pegged at ₦2.00 per square meter, while the one-time premium is ₦2.50 per square meter. A minimum improvement value of ₦5 million is expected.

Terms and Conditions

The document outlines multiple conditions, including:

  • Development must begin within three years.
  • No sale, transfer, or mortgage without ministerial approval.
  • Revocation is possible if conditions are breached.
  • The land must be used strictly for the stated agricultural purpose.

It is signed by Chijioke Nnamkwocha, Director of Land Administration, on behalf of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
