Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated her unwavering support for the rights and welfare of persons living with albinism across the country.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja to mark the global observance of International Albinism Awareness Day, the First Lady expressed solidarity with Nigeria’s albino community and endorsed this year’s theme: “Demanding Our Rights: Protect Our Skin, Preserve Our Lives.”

Describing the theme as a powerful call to action, Tinubu stressed that individuals with albinism are entitled to equal rights, safety, dignity, and quality healthcare.

“I remain committed to promoting inclusive policies and raising public awareness to safeguard the rights of persons with albinism,” she said. “We must build a nation where every Nigerian, regardless of skin condition, can live with pride, protection, and dignity.”

The News Agency of Nigeria also reports that the country’s albino community has launched a national campaign aimed at eradicating discrimination and promoting social inclusion for persons with albinism.
