Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State following a deadly flood that struck Mokwa, a key commercial hub.

The message was delivered through a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed.

Governor Radda described the flooding—triggered by heavy rainfall—as a “tragic natural disaster” that has brought significant pain and hardship to affected communities.

“We are deeply grieved by the Mokwa flood disaster. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected,” he said.

He emphasized the shared vulnerability of communities to natural disasters and called for unity and support during such crises.

“Katsina State stands in full solidarity with the people of Niger State in this challenging time,” the statement added.

Governor Radda also offered sincere sympathies to Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, families who lost loved ones, and residents who suffered property damage.

Highlighting the growing threat of climate-related disasters, he stressed the need for improved flood management systems and disaster preparedness across northern Nigeria.

He concluded by praying for the souls of the departed, asking Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdaos and to comfort the bereaved families.

“I pray for Allah’s protection over all Nigerian communities against future natural calamities,” the governor said.
